Results for ISKF AK karate-ka who participated in the Alaska State Open Karate Championships 2012 on April 14th:
- Abram Tooyak (Eagle River) - 1st Place Kata Black Belt Male 18+; 3rd Place Kumite Black Belt 18+
- Joe Foltz (Fairbanks) - 2nd Place Kata Black Belt Male 18+; 2nd Place Kumite Black Belt Male 18+
- Heather Foltz (Fairbanks) - 3rd Place Kata Black Belt Female 18+
- Alaska Shotokan Karate Kata Team (Scott Toms, Abram Tooyak, Andrew Tooyak III) - 1st Place
- Alaska Shotokan Karate Kumite Team (Abram Tooyak, Ryan Lavey, Andrew Tooyak III) - 2nd Place
Alaska Shotokan Karate Tournament March 24 Results
- Andrew Tooyak III was the top black belt at the Alaska Shotokan Karate tournament last weekend at the Spenard Recreation Center, winning the men's kata and kumite competitions.
- Yuka Ungwiluk won the women's black belt kata division, and Gwen Pullman won the women's black belt kumite division. Kata is a form division, and kumite is a fighting division.
The tournament served as a regional qualifier for the International Shotokan Karate Federation, so each winner qualified to compete in October's national tournament in Phoenix.

We had a wonderful camp experience in August 2011! It was an honor to have classes taught by Master Okazaki, Sensei Cathy Cline, and Sensei Ed Fujiwara. It was a very special camp as we honored Master Okazaki for his 50 years of teaching in the United States. In recognition of his contributions we dedicated Okazaki Hall at the 2011 Alaska Summer Karate Camp.
